Catholic Studies

Students can complete a major or minor in Catholic Studies.

Major in Catholic Studies

The Major in Catholic Studies consists of 36 credit hours, including:

CATH 2203  Global Catholicism

CATH 3013  Catholic Studies Seminar

 

as well as a minimum 3 credits taken from each of the following four Groups:

PHIL 3573 Dante's Divine Comedy and the Medieval Aristotelian Tradition

 

Group 2 Catholic Theology

Group 3 Faith and Reason

PHIL 2143 Medieval Philosophy: Pre-Modernity and the Rise and Fall of Scholasticism

Minor in Catholic Studies

The Minor in Catholic Studies consists of 18 credit hours, including:

 

CATH 1013: The Roots of Catholic Diversity

CATH 2203: Global Catholicism

 

as well as:

 

12 credit hours in electives drawn in any combination from at least two of the following four Groups (see Major degree requirements above for course options in each Group):

 

Group 1 – History and Literatures;

Group 2 – Catholic Theology;

Group 3 – Faith and Reason; or

Group 4 – Faith and Society.
